Parasailing. Isn’t the whole point of parachuting to go down? The suit seemed awfully earth-centred, anyway. A girdle fit around the torso and two straps slid under my arms and wrapped over top of the shoulders to fall in front, then another two straps came from behind and up between my legs. Everything clamped together at my chest, then cinched tight à la Hannibal Lecter. A parachute hooked to the harness’s shoulder points then a long, double pronged rope grappled to the same clamps. Last Monday November 8 was held in London on the Trade Show world tourism industry. On this occasion, Survival International, Human Rights, had organized a demonstration supporting his call for a boycott of tourism in Botswana.

Remember, in September, Survival had declared a boycott of tourism in Botswana to denounce the political crackdown by the Botswana government against the Bushmen of the Kalahari. Indeed, at the conclusion of a trial whose Bushmenetaient emerged winners, they had been granted the right to live on their land. Provided they are still deprived of their only water well and the right to hunt for their food has been banned. A luxurious lodge has been implanted in the middle of their territory without their consent and blocks access to their single well whose survival depends on them yet!

One of the booths at the World Travel Market, which opened last Monday the Excel Centre, was shared by the national organization of tourism and Botswana Wilderness Safaris, a tour company well since having implanted the controversial luxury lodge in question !… Meanwhile, the government is drilling new wells exclusively for wildlife and authorizes Wilderness Safaris has opened a tourist lodge with a pool near their community.
